Diana's Room

When I was a little girl my mom did my room in yellow and green. I had a canopy bed and she made me a yellow bedspread with two girls braiding hair. She designed my room around this wallpaper:

She made me lots of things to match! I wish I had a picture to show you. I had matching lamps, a chair pad, and wall hangings. Well, she saved a bunch of it. There was half a roll of wallpaper that she saved along with the bedspread, and a few other items. So I got this idea to redo it while adding a new artistic touch for Diana's room. Here is how it turned out:

I'll add that the whole project was really cheap! The paint was $25.00, my mom made the curtain for Diana's gift, the curtain rod was from our old house, the chair rail we already had for a project that we didn't end up needing it for, the wallpaper paste was $10, and the shelf was free.

I plan on painting the ceiling fan blades to match the wall and make some hanging from the small pieces of left over wall paper, but it could be a while until I get these finished.

Don't let a little rain spoil your fun...

Heidi has a knack for sneaking out of the house. At random times of the day she'll just pick up and leave. Like yesterday, she saw our neighbor mowing his lawn so she thought she'd go out and have a chat with him.

So today it was pouring down rain and I thought, "oh good, I won't have to worry about Heidi leaving the house". I was wrong, she disappeared and I asked Karilyn, "where's Heidi?" She said, "oh, she went outside."

Sure enough, I look outside and she's there, playing in the sand box with her little umbrella.

She played outside for a long while before she came in all dripping wet and happy as a clam! And don't think I'm exaggerating, it WAS pouring!

Dear, Oh Deer

Last night we discovered that deer have been feasting on our garden! Here's my proof:

Pictures of the hoof prints and my beets that have been eaten:

And my awesome purple beans that the deer also enjoyed:

Hum, deer must like purple foods!

Oh well!

Here is a shot of my onions which I have tons of, but deer don't like onions! Thanks Dad for getting me lots of onion sets! They are really yummy.

Here are my Lilies that I'm proud of, they smell soooo good. Every time I walk out onto my deck I can smell them.

Right now I've got some new potatoes cooking in the crock pot for dinner, I can't wait to eat them! The deer apparently didn't want to get it's paws dirty digging up potatoes because those weren't harmed! My Dad and I sure had fun digging them up though, it was so cool to pull the soil away and see fresh potatoes!

Summer Stuff

I'm putting the contents of several posts into one post because I've been having a hard time finding the time to blog lately. So this is sort of like an "all in one special", you get more for your money that way anyway.

A few weeks ago we went to the Cleveland Zoo, mainly to see the dinosaurs. Karilyn loved them!

Heidi was absolutely terrified of them. She kept saying "Go back, go back!" But then when we were done she kept asking to see them again. Hum...two year olds...?

We couldn't resist pretending to feed Diana to one of the dinosaurs, please don't call CPS.

Our sweet little Diana Rose turned 1 month old! We're enjoying her so much, right down to her cute little toes and button nose.

Last week we went to Tuscora Park in New Philly. We had a blast riding the rides and pretty much had the place to ourselves.

It was Heidi's first time to miniature golf, although I'm not really sure she understood the concept. It's a wonder none of us got hurt the way she was golfing...

Our sweeties on the 4Th

Karilyn has reached two major milestones!

She has learned to tie her shoes and...

She can swim on her very own. I'm very excited about this and so proud. Heidi is excited about it too, so excited if fact, that she wanted to take swim lessons too.

This is the before picture...

She did manage to get her toes a little bit wet, but that's about it. She wanted nothing to do with the teachers. Perhaps we'll try when she's a bit older.

And finally, here is a picture of Karilyn at her tennis class, which she loves.

Rolling Ridge Ranch

Yesterday we took a trip into Amish country to go to the Rolling Ridge Ranch. It's an 80 acre farm/zoo with all kinds of animals. We rode in a horse drawn wagon and got to feed the animals. Heidi was a bit afraid of the horses at first, but once we got going she was alright.

The animals would come right up to the wagon and we would feed them right out of our buckets. My favorite was the big elk, he was so cute. My least favorite was the ostrich, he tried to steal the bucket of feed by biting it and yanking it out of my hands. Some of the animals would follow behind the wagon hoping to get more food. Here are lots of pictures:

Diana Rose

is here!

She was born on May 27,2009 at 11:14pm.
She weighted 9 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.
She has blue eyes and light hair and is just perfect!

We all love her so much!

I delivered her at the most awesome hospital ever! It's located in Orville close to Smucker's. Dave, Karilyn, and Heidi took a field trip to the Smucker's store while I rested in the hospital and they came back with matching socks for all of us.

Here is our sweetie pie at one week old:
